How To Measure Your Bra Size
Here is the transcript of the above video:
Bra Size – How To Measure Your Bust
Ashley (correspondent): When should someone get measured for a bra?
Andrea (bra store representative): It really depends on the individual. Some girls develop faster then others so there is no official age that you should get a bra fitting. There are a lot of factors that can influence your bra size – weight gain, weight loss, pregnancy, especially after a pregnancy you may be a different bra size. We can go over every point in detail to see what we are looking for in a bra.
A proper bra fitting takes two measurements to get a general size you can work with. The first measurement you take is just under the bust. You want to make sure the tape measure is nice and snug under the bust. Whatever number you get, you add 5 inches to that number. That number is going to be the bra band size number you are going to wear.
The second measurement you are going to take is around the largest part of the bust. The number that you get here you add a cup size for each additional inch (above the strap size. If the strap size is 32, bust size is 34, cup size would be B).
After you get your bra size, it is important to do a 5 point bra test. Look at the bra band. It should fit right below the shoulder blade and you should be able to run one finger underneath the bra band easily. If there are red prints that means the bra is too tight and you have to adjust the bra clip in the back. The bra strap, you want to make sure you can run one finger smoothly underneath the strap. Again, if there are red prints, that means the bra has to be adjusted. Thirdly, on the front core of the bra, if it sits away from your body, that means the bra is one cup to small. If the cups start digging in, that means the cups are too large. You want to make sure the breast fits comfortably inside the bra cup and make sure there isn’t any spillage from the cup.
Finally, you want to look at the projection of the bra and body. Make sure it is at a 90 degree angle from the ground.
